HDFC Bank Diners 10x Partner & Smartbuy Update
Introduction
HDFC Bank has renewed their 10x Reward program for both their 10x Partner Brands and for Smartbuy. While it is a great start to the new year it is a bit disappointing that the program has been extended only for a month compared to the 3 months last September. Lets have a look at the details
Smartbuy
There are no changes in the Smartbuy program with the DIners Black continuing to have a 15,000 points peak for every calendar month on the 9x bonus points. HDFC has been quietly adding more offerings in Smartbuy like Gift Cards, Train tickets etc. HDFC has also started quietly working to manage customer complaints, most notably with regards to purchases made on Amazon. We are now getting emails confirming that a Smartbuy purchase was made and that keeps your more at ease compared to the earlier call to the Customer Care almost 90 days after swipe.
10x Partners
While there are no changes to the 10x Partners, one major issue we have been observing since the last 4-5 days is the ability to make payments via OLA which was a major way to spend on the 10x Partners. The payment gateway of OLA does not seem to support diners cards at all. This does not seem to be an isolated incident at all and multiple friends in Mumbai are facing the same issues.
Conclusion
Its great to see HDFC Bank extending the 10x rewards program which is probably the best program for earning points in the country today. Let’s hope HDFC Bank continues to deliver outstanding value from this program. What do you think of this update ?
