Sample Deals
The cheapest flights are from the South India city of Chennai. I was able to spot round trip flights under 19k INR return to Tokyo which is incredible. This is the only non stop flight and it cannot get more convenient than this.
Flights from Mumbai and Delhi are priced slightly higher but still under 24k INR return which is literally a steal. To put this in perspective, we had traveled on the Mumbai Tokyo sector with ANA in economy for 41k per person. That’s almost 40% off. If you compare against the current options, then this is even more cheaper not to mention the non-stop flights.
When does this make sense
The best sweet spot in this sale is from Chennai during April end and beginning of May. This is the cherry blossom season in Japan and an incredible time to visit. Hop on from city to city on the fantastic Japanese Shinkansen (Bullet Trains) and visit Hanami Parties (Cherry blossom parties) across the country. Our favourite place was Kakunodate which is a samurai town in the north of Japan. Got to see lots of cute Shiba Inu kids there in the quaint samurai town.
Flights from Delhi are on sale till 18 Mar 20 and from Mumbai are staggered with the cherry blossom season unavailable for the sale. Even then Japan is an incredible place to visit. It should be on every avid travellers Wishlist.

This brings down the effective cost to almost INR 12,500 return from Chennai to Tokyo which is literally a steal. The fares codes in K class and you can credit your miles to either Avianca and earn 2422 miles (They expire in 12 months but are valuable) or earn 2018 miles on United (They don’t expire but awards are dynamically priced). Conclusion
Japan is a beautiful country with something for everyone. This is a fantastic sale and you should definitely look at this more closely. ANA has fantastic service on its flights (Just prebook veg meals if you have dietary restrictions) and even the Economy flights are great.
