A Palatial Feeling – Taj Jai Mahal Palace, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India
The Taj Jai Mahal Palace Hotel in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India is a heritage luxury 5 star property built in 1745 which is located in the heart of the Pink City (Jaipur). It is spread over 18 acres and has been the residence of three prime ministers of the princely state of Jaipur.
Check In
This property has a completely different charm to it. You realise it the moment your vehicle arrives at the gates of the property and you are welcomed by the security team. After a thorough check of the vehicle you proceed to the reception area which is nothing short of a palace in itself.
Guests are showered with rose petals at the entrance and then welcomed into the property with a traditional Indian Tilak/Tika and offered a Jasmine garland. The reception area is steeped in Old Indian Grandeur and everything feels so unique and amazing. The attention to detail is simply mind boggling.
There is plenty of seating space in the Lobby Area for a hotel which has 94 exquisite rooms. Check in was quick and efficient. We were quickly escorted to our room by a member of the staff.
The Rooms
The Rooms have all the modern amenities you can think of yet have a very royal feeling. The beds are super comfortable. There is a small work table with 2 chairs and a small lounge chair. I really love the taste of Himalaya mineral water which is a staple in all the Taj Properties. There was a welcome fruit plate and some cookies on our desk. The USB Charging ports were also a godsend.
There was plenty of storage space in the room and the garden views from the balcony were impressive. A maestro plays the flute in the garden every morning and it feels like you have left modern civilisation behind.
The Bathrooms were super clean and stocked with luxury toiletries. Most of the bath items were from the newly launched range of Forest Essentials which is one of my favourite skincare brand.
The Palace
The Hotel is spread over 18 acres and offers something for everyone. The hotel offers complimentary morning Yoga sessions in its lawns. There are two swimming pools (one for kids), a kids play area with some slides and a croquet area as well. The hotel staff needs to be congratulated for the way the property is maintained.
Fitness enthusiasts will feel right at home working out at the hotel gym. They also have Table Tennis and Snooker inside the gym. For those looking to unwind, do check out the Jiva Spa which offers some incredible therapies.
For those of us who like to challenge our minds, what better than a game of kings ?
The hotel also has a Kathputli (Traditional Indian puppet Show) which will keep both kids and adults entertained.
They have a nice cozy bar which serves out some wonderful cocktails as well
Special Mention
We really loved the way guests are pampered at the hotel. Every turn down service is accompanied by complimentary sweet items. I also loved the Handicraft item which was gifted to us prior to check out.
Food
The hotel is known for its amazing food which offers a great mix of Traditional Rajasthani cuisine and other Indian and European Cuisines. Their main restaurant is Marble Arch which serves great breakfast items. The Rajasthani items in the buffet breakfast were unique and I really did not have such items at other places in India. The hotel also has an Italian restaurant. If you love food then you have come to the right place. The desserts were some of the best we have had in India. In Room dining was also wonderful and the staff was attentive to all our needs.
Highlight of our Stay
The best part of our stay was waking up early in the morning and taking a stroll in the palace grounds. You can hear the birds chirping and the distinct calls of peacocks. We were able to get really close to some of them and even got a chance to see one displaying his plumage. A maestro also plays a flute in the morning and it feels surreal. Despite being in the midst of a large city, you feel transported back in the era of Kings.
Bottom Line
The Taj Jai Mahal Palace is an incredible heritage property where you can enjoy a luxurious stay. The hotel has something to offer for every kind of traveler.
