Once you are logged in, simply head to Mileage Plan -> Buy and Share miles as shown in the screenshot below. On the next page simply click on “Buy Miles”.
I would recommend purchasing a minimum of 40,000 miles so that you earn the maximum bonus of 50% miles. Our total cost is USD 1,182.5 which is approximately INR 82,775 which brings the cost/mile to INR 1.38. Booking Process
Now that we have the required amount of miles, simply head to Book -> Flights and select Origin as “Delhi” and destination as “Tokyo”. Remember to keep the “Use Miles” option checked and search for One Way routes. For some reason round trips don’t show up properly but it’s a minor hassle.
Business Class availability is phenomenal with only 4 days where business class seats are not available. I have never seen such availability on any route on any frequent flyer program in Business Class till date. It is literally a goldmine.

Cost Benefit Analysis
A round trip ticket booked via this method will cost us 50,000 Miles and 64$. The total cost in terms of INR comes up to 50,000 x 1.38 + 64 x 70 = INR 73,480 ($ 1,050). A ticket purchased directly via the airline costs approximately INR 1,65,000. That’s an over 50 percent discount on the published fare and is an incredible deal.
Bottom Line
Alaska Mileage Plan offers incredible redemption value on the Delhi to Narita route. If you have any plans to travel to Japan, then this is a no brainer. Economy class fares are typically around INR 50,000 on this route and for 50% extra you can get to experience their business class offering with full lie flat seats.
