Travel Club Lounge Terminal 1 Mumbai Airport Review

Location

The Travel Club Lounge is Located in Terminal 1C of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Mumbai. The lounge is located close to departure gate number 22 of the terminal. While the lounge is supposedly open 24×7, terminal 1C currently does not have an operating flight between 12:40 AM to around 05:00 AM. Also, please do note that since Terminal 1B is not connected to Terminal 1C, there is no way you can use this lounge if your gate number if less than 21.

Gaining Access

The lounge accepts the following cards for complimentary access

  • Mastercard
  • Maestro
  • American Express
  • Diners Club
  • Priority Pass
  • Lounge Key
  • Lounge Club

VISA cards are not accepted at this lounge.

Seating

The lounge is split into 3 sections. You enter into their main section which has a beautiful bar and large flat screen TVs playing sports channels. The seating is comfortable but this lounge does not have too many seats. Expect it to get super crowded during peak hours.

There is a very small inner section with around 15-20 seats. There are large screens showing departure information throughout the lounge.  Lastly they have a small dining area.

Food

The food at the lounge had a good combination of Salads, Indian Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian food. They also had a continental and a Chinese dish. The vegetarian food was excellent. I stayed away from the Salads as they were not covered and I did see some food insects on top. In all fairness, this seems to be a problem not just at other lounges in India but in many lounges globally as well.

There was a wide variety of drinks on offer with 2 fresh juice choices and plenty of packaged drinks. They also have a live counter but it was not operational at midnight.

Staff

The Lounge was well staffed even at midnight. The staff are extremely attentive and well mannered. The food counters were also well managed.

Cleanliness

The lounge looks modern and well maintained. My only complaint with the lounge was the loo which was stinking badly. Ours was the last flight of the night but that cannot be an excuse. Lounges in terminal 2 are also managed by the same chain (TFS) but I felt the cleanliness standards at Terminal 2 are far higher. The lounge is definitely an upgrade compared to the earlier one which used to operate from the same location but they can still do better.

Bottom Line

With the temporary suspension of the entire domestic operations of Jet Airways, a lot of frequent fliers in India will be traveling via Terminal 1. The travel club lounge is a great place to have food and relax before your flight. They do need to iron out a few issues at the earliest.
