Card Features
The card has 3 types of rewards
- Regular Membership Reward Points – 1 MR point per INR 50 spent with some exclusions (Fuel/Insurance/Utilities/Cash)
- Bonus Membership Reward Points – 7,500 Bonus MR points on spending INR 1.9 lacs and 10,000 Bonus MR points (additional) on spending a total of INR 4 lacs
- Taj Experience Gift Card – INR 10,00 Gift Card on spending a total of INR 4 lacs
Please note that Membership Reward Points have an expiry of 3 years on the Platinum Travel Credit card (Unlike the Membership Rewards Credit Card where there is no expiry). The redemption ratios on this card for regular and bonus membership reward points is different making the analysis a bit tricky. Let us look at the tables below to understand this further

Sweet Spots
This card makes sense only if you are going to spend over INR 4 lacs per year. Reaching only the first threshold of INR 1.9 lacs will yield
- 3,800 Regular MR points (assuming all spends are eligible)
- 7,500 Bonus MR points
These would only be worth INR 7,900 leading to a reward rate of 4.15% which is extremely poor.
On Spending INR 4 lacs you earn
- 8,000 Regular MR points
- 17,500 Bonus MR Points
- INR 10,000 Taj Voucher
These would be worth INR 30,000 leading to a more acceptable reward rate of 7.5%. It is not the best reward rate out there but not the last in the pack either.

We also love the fact that you can covert your MR points to Marriott Bonvoy in a 1:1 ratio. You can redeem 25,000 Bonvoy points for a category 4 award. To earn a better return you would need to redeem these at a ratio better than 1 Bonvoy = INR 0.8. While this is difficult, it is not impossible. For example some hotels in NY can be redeemed at a better than 1:1 ratio allowing the effective reward rate to jump to 8.875%
Bottom Line
If you love traveling domestically, then this card offers above average value for money via SpiceJet Vouchers and Taj Vouchers. With the ongoing promotion you can apply for this card for FREE. If you don’t see value in it, you can always cancel before the first year ends.
