Hotel Review – Fairfield by Marriott Belitung Indonesia

The Fairfield by Marriott Belitung is a wonderful one year old property on the picturesque island of Belitung located on the east cost of Sumatra Island. The island is known for its stunning beaches and this is the only hotel on the entire island which is associated with an international hotel chain. We also chose this hotel to complete our free Award Night offer on signup from Marriott.  Our Room We stayed in a deluxe oceanfront room with a balcony providing uninterrupted views of the ocean. The rooms are not grand is size but sufficient for all your needs. The rooms were really clean and the housekeeping staff did a…

Track your points and miles like a pro

Do you want to earn maximum value from your Airline & Hotel spends ? Hell yeah.  Step 1 – Register for Airline / Hotel Loyalty Programs Step 2 – Quote your loyalty number and earn miles / points  Step 3 – Track all of them to ensure you maximise value and your miles / points never expire The Problem While most of us already take care of Step 1 & 2, tracking your loyalty programs is an altogether different ballgame. I recently lost over 10,000 flying blue miles which could easily have been redeemed for a one way economy ticket within Europe. Each program has its own quirks and its…

Marriott Offering Two Award Nights on Two Stays

Marriott has been in the news a lot lately for all the wrong reasons. They seem to be having a really hard time in their integration of SPG / Marriott / Ritz Carlton. Their new program called Bonvoy is at the risk of making a transition from a Noun to a Verb “Bonvoyed” (representing all issues faced in dealing with Marriott) They have been definitely trying to clean up their act and are currently running multiple promotions. New members are being offered a free award night worth 25,000 points (Category 4 award) on completing two paid stays till July 2019 (Details Here). We did not waste much time and easily…

Deal Alert – Malaysia Airlines Business Class India to Australia round trip for INR 1 lac per person (~ $ 1,450)

Malaysia Airlines is currently offering great promotional round trip business class fares from Delhi/Mumbai to Australia for around INR 100,000 (approximately USD 1,450) per person round trip. We have rarely seen business class fares on this sector below the INR 100,000 barrier. These are exceptional fares and are not expected to last very long.  We were able to find availability across multiple months (July / August / September). The best deal we found was from Delhi to Melbourne at an unbelievable INR 99,135 for the month of July 2019. This fare is unbelievable and does have a few quirks The Flight from Delhi to Kuala Lumpur is a Boeing 777…

GVK West Lounge Lower Deck – Mumbai International Airport Review

The CSIA airport Mumbai has two main lounges for travelers in business class viz. East wing and West wing.  Allocations are generally based on the time and airline you are flying. The West wing has a lower deck which opens at 7 pm. We got to experience this section of the lounge on our recent trip to Indonesia in Business Class with Malaysian Airlines. Of the 3 lounges across East/West/lower West this seemed to be the least crowded in our experience. The rush however increased sharply by 10 pm as most international flights depart at night from Mumbai.  The seating is upscale and the lounges are very well maintained and…
